Madame Alice florist an eco-responsible business

Larousse defines eco-responsible therm as follows:

Who seeks to integrate environmental protection measures into its activities, principles, etc.: Company, eco-responsible approach.

You know, it's not easy to be 100% organic, fully fair trade, local, waste-free, original and... profitable. However, Madame Alice is committed to doing her best to integrate more and more environmental protection measures into the heart of her activities. Would you like to know how? Well, here are some of the eco-responsible actions of Madame Alice florist:

The principle of 3RV tattooed on the heart

Plastic at Madame Alice? Glitter? Ribbons? Paper? Indeed, some of our creations contain decorative elements containing plastic or inert materials. However, since its opening, the company has ensured to respect the 3RV principle and therefore promotes:

  • Reduction at source . We must consume intelligently and reduce waste. In this way, residual materials are well managed. A good example is bulk purchasing.
  • Reuse. Reuse involves reusing materials with little or no modification. For example, the flower protection papers found in our order boxes are reused in our deliveries, to protect orders from the cold and to prevent vases from tipping over during transport.
  • Recycling. Recycling is the transformation of materials into new products. It can look similar to the original product or be completely different. The best example is recycled paper that is recycled into newspaper that we use to wrap our bouquets.
  • Valorization . Valorization is the act of using a material sent to the trash in a different way. For example, we compost the vast majority of our organic waste.

Pretty eco-friendly packaging

For the enhancement and packaging of our flowers and other products we use:

  • Sheets of paper made from recycled materials
  • Recyclable kraft paper and tissue paper sheets
  • Stone sheets made from recycled mineral material
  • Biodegradable wax paper sheets
  • Sustainable fabrics made from plants, compostable, biodegradable and reusable
  • Ropes, ribbons and other items made from natural or recycled materials

Revalued accessories and plants

We buy flowerpots and plants without a family or unloved. We save plants in decline and multiply them to offer you healthy babies at a low price. In short, we try to make something new with something old by looking for bargains and refreshing what needs to be refreshed. We mix it all with local and international accessories and plants.

100 trees as carbon offset for overseas flowers

In order to be able to offer a range of interesting, varied and different flowers to our customers, we mix our picked and local flowers and greenery with flowers and greenery from overseas.

  • The majority of our international flowers come from the Netherlands.
  • A flight from the Netherlands to Canada is 5084 km.
  • An individual's trip from the Netherlands to Canada releases 0.5592 tonnes of GHGs.
  • Every year, Madame Alice brings in the equivalent of 4 large packages of flowers from abroad to fill her bouquets (4* 0.5592 tonnes of GHG = 2.24 tonnes of GHG).
  • According to the European organization Ecotree, a tree absorbs about 0.025 tons of CO2 per year.
  • Therefore, in order to compensate for her carbon footprint, Madame Alice is committed to planting a minimum of 100 trees via a donation to the organization arbrecanada.ca.
